Energy Concessions for QLD customers

Each concession has different eligibility criteria, and, in some cases, you may be eligible for multiple concessions. We have compiled a list of the main concessions below for Queensland customers; however, we do recommend that you visit the Queensland Government’s Concessions Website for further information on this.

Electricity Rebate
This Rebate helps people with eligible concession cards issued by the Commonwealth Department of Human Services, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, or the Queensland Government pay their electricity bill.

Account holder
Holds one of the following cards:
- Department of Human Services or Veteran Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Human Services Health Care Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card – (for recipients of War Widow or War Widower or Totally and Permanently Incapacitated rate pensions)
- Queensland Seniors Card
- ImmiCard
Only live with the following:
- Your spouse
- Other concession card holders
- Dependents
- Carers who do not pay rent
- Individuals in receipt of income support who do not pay rent.

Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme
The Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme helps eligible customers pay their electricity bill if they have an inability to self-regulate body temperature when exposed to extremes of environmental temperatures (hot or cold).

QLD resident
Have a qualifying medical condition including:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Autonomic system dysfunction
- Loss of skin integrity or sweating capacity
- severe compromise of functioning such as mobility at extremes of environmental temperature
- hypersensitivity to extremes of environmental temperature leading to increased pain or other discomfort or an increased risk of complications
Rebate must be for your primary place of residence
hold a current Pensioner Concession Card or a current Health Care Card and be financially responsible for paying the electricity bill.

Electricity Life Support
An electricity life support concession for eligible people who are seriously ill and use a home-based oxygen concentrator or kidney dialysis machine.
