• Must hold one of the following cards:
  • Pensioner Concession Card – issued by Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs
  • Health Care Card – issued by Centrelink
  • ImmiCard (Bridging Visa E) – issued by Department of Immigration and Border Security
• The concession card name must match the name of the electricity account holder.
• The concession recipient must be responsible for the payment of the electricity account.
• Concession is only available for the principal place of residence.
• The electricity account must be billed at a general domestic tariff rate or its equivalent.

Heating Allowance
This is available to eligible pensioners living in Tasmania to help with heating costs.

$56 per year split into two payments of $28 on 15 May and 15 September.

• Eligibility is means tested and successful applicants do not need to re-apply each year.
• The allowance is available to people who hold a Services Australia or DVA Pensioner Concession Card and receive any of the following:
  • Age Pension
  • Carer Payment
  • Disability Support Pension (DSP)
  • Parenting Payment, or
  • Service Pension

Apply via the DPAC website by completing an online Heating Allowance Application Form.

Life Support Concession
The life support concession is a daily discount to eligible customers who use an approved life support system or who live with someone who uses one in their main home.

Medical cooling or heating concession
The medical cooling or heating concession is a daily discount to eligible customers who have, or who live with a person who has, a medical condition that requires the cooling or heating of their main home to manage that medical condition.

To be eligible, customers must:

• Be a resident of Tasmania.
• Be the electricity account holder.
• Reside at the address on the application form, which must be the applicant’s principal residence that requires cooling or heating to manage their medical condition.
• Hold a current Pensioner Concession Card (issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs) or a current Health Care Card (issued by Centrelink).
• Have or live with a person with a qualifying medical condition requiring cooling or heating to stop their symptoms from worsening significantly.
• Provide certification from their medical specialist or general practitioner that the medical condition is significantly worsened by extremes in cold or hot temperatures.
