Nectr wins top spot for Canstar Blue’s 2022 Green Excellence Awards

Nectr was awarded for its 100% carbon neutral and 100% GreenPower plans which showcase environmental leadership and sustainable strategy, empowering consumers to choose genuine greener energy solutions.

Canstar Blue’s Green Excellence Awards 2022 involved independent rating and assessment, analysing a wide range of energy retailers and plans across Australia. Key assessment criteria included impact on sustainability, environmental targets (including commitment to sustainable change), affordability, accessibility, and ease of use.

“As one of Australia’s leaders in greener, cleaner energy, Nectr is proud to be the very first to be awarded a Canstar Blue Green Excellence Award,” said Andrew Butler, Nectr Managing Director.

“Our energy offerings are built to offer more environmentally-friendly and affordable energy plans for Australians, that also suit their lifestyle and energy consumption habits. We’re thrilled to have this recognised in such a competitive space.”

Nectr’s Canstar Blue Award win adds to the retailer’s green accolades, having also achieved top 10 status in Greenpeace Australia’s 2022 Green Electricity Guide, and multiple Mozo Experts Choice Awards.

The judging panel of Canstar Blue’s Green Excellence Awards 2022 recognised Nectr’s commitment to driving sustainable change by reducing carbon emissions, investing in renewable projects (such as solar farms in NSW), and taking a customer-focused approach to pricing.

“Most power companies offer clean energy initiatives, but it  usually comes at an additional cost to the consumer, which is a roadblock for many wanting to do their bit for the environment,” said Jared Mullane, Canstar Blue’s Energy Editor and an Awards judge.

“Incorporating the costs of offsetting carbon emissions generated from customers’ electricity usage into its product pricing is a huge drawcard for eco-conscious Aussies, and given that Nectr’s prices are generally competitive, it makes their product offerings all that sweeter.”

In the face of recent natural disasters  in Australia, Nectr offers consumers an easy way to take climate action, reduce individual household energy costs and environmental impact. At the same time, Nectr is challenging other energy retailers to walk the environmental talk.

“Nectr entered the energy industry with a mission to clean up energy to make it better for everyone. We challenge other retailers to offer 100% carbon neutral plans like we do because we unashamedly want to support a clean energy future for our customers and our country,” said Karren Challoner-Miles, Nectr’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Nectr was born digital, which has proven to be a major advantage as the industry transitions to renewable energy. Nectr’s digitisation provides more flexibility in managing consumption demand, efficiencies, and sustainability.

“We’ve seen an increasing number of customers taking a real interest in Nectr’s points of difference,” said Ms Challoner-Miles. “If you’re interested in taking positive action on climate change, and are looking for greener, more affordable energy options, then take a look at what we have to offer.”

About Nectr

Nectr is an Australian energy retailer that offers 100% carbon-neutral energy plans in addition to solar and solar + battery bundles with Clean Energy Council certified installation to deliver affordable, cleaner, greener energy solutions for Australians. Established in 2019, Nectr has disrupted the Australian energy industry, offering 100% carbon-neutral energy plans as standard – and challenging other retailers to do the same. In 2022 Nectr ranked among the top 10 greenest energy retailers in Australia according to Greenpeace’s Green Electricity Guide and is one of a select few retailers to offer both 100% carbon neutral and 100% GreenPower energy plans. Nectr is backed by Hanwha Energy, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of solar panels, and is investing in various renewable projects in Australia. The Hanwha Group has committed to over AU$5billion investment in eco-friendly initiatives to achieve net-zero by 2050.
