Invest in the beautiful planet we call home – Earth Day 2022

Nectr is proud to be a part of Earth Day and encourage you all to help make a difference for our planet!

Around the world, more people are becoming environmentally conscious and aware of the companies they support, which is why EARTHDAY.ORG is giving individuals and companies alike to make a difference in their respective industry. In this short blog we’ll explain how you can get involved with the Earth Day movement and outline how even though Nectr is a new entrant to the energy market in Australia, we want to be the driving force for change.

How can you get involved?

The theme for Earth Day this year is “Invest in our Planet”, which emphasises the importance of building a prosperous and renewable based future. As an individual, you may be wondering what this might mean for you and how you can make your voice heard.

EARTHDAY.ORG has outlined 52 ways individuals can get involved with making a difference for our planet, so we’ve chosen our top 10 favourite tips to help you get the ball rolling:

  1. Pick up trash while you go for a run!
  2. Organise a community/street clean up
  3. Switch to reusable bags
  4. Sign Up to Nectr’s 100 % Clean Plan (hint, hint!)
  5. Grow an organic garden
  6. Vote for elected leaders who will ban single use plastic
  7. Stand against deforestation with EARTHDAY.ORG’s “Canopy Project”
  8. Support organic farmers
  9. Skip plastic. Buy recycled paper or glass.

How is Nectr making a difference?

Nectr and its parent company, Hanwha Energy Australia are in the process of developing two solar farms as part of our focus on creating sustainable energy. Upon their completion, these solar farms will produce enough energy to power up to 65,000 homes, firmly cementing our stance on using renewable energy sources to supply our customers.

We currently have two solar farms at advanced stages of development. The larger of the two is our Jindera Solar Farm, which will produce 120 megawatts of power at its peak capacity. The project is around 520 hectares in size will use roughly 300,000 solar panels.

The second project we’re developing is Gregadoo Solar Farm, which will have 43 megawatts of power at its peak capacity. That project is 150 hectares in size and will use approximately 80,000 panels.

Nectr also has a range of retail electricity plans that are 100% carbon neutral, 100% GreenPower accredited, or involve solar technology.

Nectr is on a mission to clean up energy to make it work for all of us. It’s time to invest in our planet and help make a difference!
